Learn how students can participate as knowledgeable, reflective, and creative participants in a variety of literacy experiences. Youngsters typically struggle with being able to express their thoughts, feelings and interpretations. Art and music can provide the catalyst for their creative, imaginative, and expressive doors to open. This course is designed to emphasize methods and materials for creating lessons, activities and assessments that are aligned with the NYS Learning Standards. Museum Makers: Museum Resources for Art Teachers |
This on-line course will guide teachers through creating a project-based learning experience based on the theme of virtual museums. Teachers will: explore the nature of museums and collecting, search for online museum resources, gather virtual artifacts, and create an online museum that will serve as an example for their students. |

Strategies for Teaching Music Composition |
Participants will develop skill in using Finale Notepad music notation software and in creating objective criteria for evaluating students’ compositions. Once these skills have been acquired, participants will design a composition project that is appropriate for their students. |
